Welcome Letter From The Director
Dear Laurelwood Families & Friends,
I am extremely excited and honored to introduce myself as the Director at Camp Laurelwood. Many of you might know that I was the Assistant Director of Laurelwood in 2004-2005, but may not know that my mother attended CL along with many of my closest friends and family members. This is not just another job for me – it is my dream - not just to be back at sleepaway camp, but to be here, at Camp Laurelwood. I look forward to making “the Laurelwood Experience” the very best it can be for our campers, staff members, & families, and look forward continuing and growing Camp Laurelwood’s proud, 81-year tradition of “Fun, Friends, Forever”.
At Laurelwood we focus heavily on providing campers with age-appropriate, fun and enriching programs that include activities in sports, creative arts and outdoor education. By emphasizing staff leadership development each year, we see an even greater positive role-model impact on our staff and camper relationships, further enhancing the development of valuable life skills in our campers. In addition, by placing a greater emphasis on programming variety and development, we provide our campers the opportunity to expand their horizons, challenge themselves, find their true passion(s), and excel at the activities they are most interested in.
Through specialized curriculum planning, staff leadership development and survey feedback from our families (see below), we continue to create an even stronger athletic development program for our campers - encompassing focus, skill development, competition and fun. This year we are launching the all-new CLGL (Camp Laurelwood Gaga League) that will be played in one of our six gaga courts. Over the past two years, we have spent considerable time enhancing our program areas and facitlies with more robust programming as well, including Arts & Crafts, Drama, Music, Martial Arts, Nature and our Bonim program. (Check your email, our Facebook Page and our Website often for updates on our new and improved camp programming.)
Thank you so much for your help and I look forward to meeting you all. Should you have any questions, please contact me.
